OUR G6S " THE UGLY TRUTH"
WARNING! GRAPHIC IMAGE!! PLEASE SCROLL DOWN AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
It is very difficult to try and explain our G6S story and how the genetic defect "silent killer" became so prevalent in our nubian herd. Our story will be coming soon!!! CLICK HERE: "FINAL G6S REPORT" to read about our 8 year journey dealing with G6S in our Nubian dairy goat herd
G6S AFFECTED AS A NEWBORN

To the left are pics of our 2009 G6S affected buckling. A result of breeding a G6S carrier doe to a G6S carrier buck.
This buckling's dam had an extremely difficult time with delivering him. The little guy had the strangest meconium I had ever seen on a kid. Extremely course hair coat, larger than normal jugular vein and skull as well.
At birth,he had the most unusual legs! To this day,we have never seen a kid with legs to that extreme. After a week or so,his legs did start to straighten out a bit.
SAYING GOODBYE

When blood test confirmed that this buckling was definately a G6S affected, we had already noticed some subtle clues with his health, weight gain and even behavior. This was the only G6S affected we have had here at Baa-Si Farmz(we now manage our G6S),so we do not know if this is typical for an Affected or not.
THE UGLY TRUTH!!!

Below is a picture of our G6S affected buckling right before his burial. This is the truth! This is the end result of G6S in an UNMANAGED herd! This is reality!! Reality was also much HEARTBREAK for our family. The FINANCIAL LOSS in the end, will have costed us THOUSANDS!

The little guy was humanely put down to spare him any suffering that G6S can cause it's victims.
